Anonymous Speaks Volumes About Google+

Say what you will about the pros and cons of Google+, only there's zero denying that the arrival of the new cultural net has agitated things up considerably.

We've seen a battle arise over ownership of Facebook users' contact info, for representativ, including Facebook's dumpy-lived attempt to deactivate Open-Xchange's OX.IO export creature, among others.

Then at that place was Google's decision to shut Twitter dealings forbidden of its social search results pro Google+. Many recently, we've seen Facebook rip the plug happening Google+ ads.

Nowadays, as if even more fervour were needful, no otherwise Anonymous has announced that it's preparation to create a Google+ rival of its own.

'Our Gmail Is Besides Past'

"Every bit whatsoever of you have it off we got banned from Google+ attributable several of our content," the hacktivist group wrote in a blog post o'er the weekend.

In an earlier postal service, the group enclosed a screenshot of the telling that its "Your Anon News" profile on Google+ had been delayed and noted that "our Gmail is also gone."

Unnamed, of course, has gained tremendous notoriety for its hacktivist attacks on corporations and governments just about the globe, including its recent targeting of U.S. government contractors.

In any case, "what we didn't have sex at the time is that we were just one of a handful of Anonymous accounts that was suppressed," the group wrote. "This is the sad fact of what happens crosswise the Cyberspace when you walk around to a different beat of the cram."

'Welcome to Anon+'

In answer, Anonymous has started to ramp up its own social net, according to the blog post.

"This is one social network that will not tolerate being shut down, censored, or oppressed–smooth in the face up of blackout," information technology asserted. "We the people induce had enough…sufficient of governments and corporations saying what's best for us–what's safe for our minds.

"The sheep era is over," Anonymous concluded. "The interwebz are nary longer your prison. Welcome to Anon+."

Also mentioned in the post is an "operation" launched by "a few populate" against Google+, though nobelium details were provided as to what that may involve.

'The Project Is for All People'

AnonPlus, meanwhile, can at once be seen in its earliest stages online through an "information dump of a site" that's been stick out plainly to dispense information, information technology explains. "Before long the actualized site bequeath go high and you can begin to interact with it."

AnonPlus is not intended to beryllium used only past the members of Faceless, however.

"This project is for ALL citizenry," the site says. "This idea is a presstorm approximation and only takes the name anon because of the Anonymity of the social network."

The site's laugh line is "Social Networking Anonymously," and updates are being provided via Chitter.

A Locked-In World

It seems a somewhat safe calculate that AnonPlus won't be a serious competitor to Facebook and Google+, at least not for mainstream users in the near subsequent. Aft all, the whole point of most ethnic networking is to keep in touch with those who know who you are; anonymity would defeat overmuch of that purpose.

It's as wel likely that Unidentified would receive found itself kicked off Google+ at this early poin of the game regardless of its calm, since that's what Google's been doing to pretty much every organization that has tried to join before its job profiles are ready.

Still, the group's go under underscores a fundamental frequency need for openness that just hasn't been satisfied so immoderate past either Facebook Oregon Google+. Both networks have an inherent occupy in controlling and containing users' info and interactions, and that includes the businesses that participate on the sites as well.

Need for Nakedness

IT cadaver to be seen what specific limitations Google will FALSE companies and their interactions with current and potential customers through its new business profiles, but–only by virtue of the fact that the unharmed thing is controlled by a single entity, and Google, no less–you can be secure more or less limitations and plenty of potentially "offensive" integrations will be there.

I don't think a return to a completely unknown Internet is the solution. I've been hoping staring source Diaspora would gain sufficiency traction to follow a real contender; in the meantime, I serve like Google+ better than I've ever liked Facebook.

But we pauperization a to a greater extent open alternative. A centrally harnessed social network is no better than a centrally controlled society.
